CV2 fall issue launch

Come out and celebrate the launch of our fall issue!

We have brought together an exciting lineup of local poets and musicians to perform at the launch, including Jesse Matas; Christine Fellows; Sarah Klassen; Ted Landrum; Angeline Schellenberg and Margaret Sweatman.

Literary prizes, cake, and refreshments to follow.

JESSE MATAS is a musician and a writer. He has released 3 albums and toured in 10 countries with his band Crooked Brothers. He lives in western Manitoba and works masonry for a living.

CHRISTINE FELLOW's songs are resolute, tuneful vessels filled with fully-formed characters and wondrous locations, lashed together with the spirit of collaboration and feminist intervention, that have sailed her far and wide. In 2014, she released her sixth full-length solo album, Burning Daylight, alongside her first collection of poetry (ARP Books).

Fellows collaborates with artists from all disciplines to create and produce performances and recordings. She and John K. Samson are Winnipeg Public Library’s 2016-17 Writers-in-Residence.

SARAH KLASSEN's most recent poetry collection is Monstrance. She continues to write, read, garden and walk in the lovely northeast part of Winnipeg.

TED LANDRUM teaches architecture at the University of Manitoba. His poetry and criticism has been published by Routledge, CV2, On Site review, Lemon Hound, The American Society for Aesthetics, The Winnipeg Review, The Brooklyn Rail, Edge Condition, and Rhubarb, as well as online at the Centre for Creative Writing and Oral Culture and School of Art Gallery. Ted’s first collection of “archi-poems” —called Midway Radicals— is currently under construction. For more, see www.ubuloca.com

ANGELINE SCHELLENBERG's first collection Tell Them It Was Mozart (Brick Books) was released in September 2016. She published the chapbook Roads of Stone (The Alfred Gustav Press) in 2015. Angeline's work won third prize in Prairie Fire's 2014 Banff Centre Bliss Carman Poetry Award Contest and was shortlisted for Arc Poetry Magazine's 2015 Poem of the Year. Her poems have also appeared in journals such as CV2, TNQ, Grain, and Lemon Hound. She has twice served as artist-in-residence at Deep Bay. Angeline lives in Winnipeg with her husband, their two teenagers, and a German shepherd-corgi.

MARGARET SWEATMAN's novels are Mr. Jones, The Players, When Alice Lay Down with Peter, Sam and Angie, and Fox. She writes lyrics, poetry, plays, and short fiction. Margaret works as a professor at the University of Winnipeg.
